Hello everyone and Happy New Year!
I started this year with a small family trip in Romania, revisited the famous Bran Castle after many many years (last time I went there was when I was in kindergarten, too long ago for me to count the years) and also revisited Brasov (when I’m in Romania, a visit to this beautiful city is almost compulsory so I can say I go there at least once a year).
We were lucky to see a very beautiful winter landscape on the way there, in Cheia! I will leave the photos below to speak for themselves…
Arrived at Bran Castle quite early in the morning which was perfect because it was not crowded (yet) but it was super cold (-15 degrees…) both outside and inside the castle. As the castle is made of stone and it is not really heated, inside can be quite cold as well. It is interesting to walk around the rooms, and especially the “Secret Staircase” that leads to the second and third floor was quite fun. I remember that during kindergarten, one of my classmates pranked us and turned off the lights on this staircase, which was quite spooky. This castle is not as romantic as Peles Castle is so if you are looking forward to experiencing a more spooky atmosphere, “Dracula’s” castle is the place to go.
After Bran Castle, we headed to Brasov. In Brasov, we didn’t have a particular place to go but just walking around town is so pleasant, especially because it got warmer by noon.
For lunch, we visited a relatively new (I think) restaurant located in the Council Square: La Ceaun, with very good reviews on Google Maps. It was the first time we had to queue for a restaurant in Romania but it was totally worth it! I recommend it if you are ever going to visit Brasov 🙂
Thank you for stopping by and please come and visit my blog again if you liked it 🙂
