It is that time of the year again, Japan’s most beautiful season, the sakura or cherry blossom season.

First hanami spot of this year for me was Shinjuku Gyoen, one of my favorite places in Tokyo 🙂

Not all the cherry blossoms were in full bloom on that day, but we managed to find a few very pretty ones. Although Shinjuku Gyoen is a popular spot for hanami, as it is quite big, don’t worry too much about the crowds. What I noticed is that the entrance fee became a bit more expensive than usual, 500yen for adults and 250yen for students and seniors. Going there earlier in the morning will help to avoid the crowds for a bit.
